Choosing a pathway to a promising career in cybersecurity.
University of Texas at San Antonio
The UTSA CyberSkills2Work program offers training for individuals who want to learn new cybersecurity skills or start a new career in cybersecurity. Program classes are online hybrid courses that include a brief session on cybersecurity careers and 40 hours of instruction for each of the principles of cybersecurity; a boot camp for the Security+ certification exam; digital forensics; a boot camp for project management professional certification exam; and industrial control systems security. The program is available to transitioning military personnel, first responders, military spouses, and veterans. This program is offered at no cost to selected participants.
This pathway is designed to allow the use of data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools (e.g., IDS alerts, firewalls, network traffic logs) and to analyze events that occur within their environments for the purposes of mitigating threats. Students will be introduced to the body of knowledge encompassed by the Security+ certification exam, and most students should be well-prepared to take the Security+ certification exam after completion of this pathway.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Must be a veteran, transitioning service member, first responder, military spouse, or government personnel.
Must have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
