About This Program

The UTSA CyberSkills2Work program offers training for individuals who want to learn new cybersecurity skills, start a new career in cybersecurity, focus in on Digital forensics, or get ready to take the PMP certification test. Two different pathways are offered to cover these areas. In both Pathways classes are online hybrid courses that include topics specifics to the classes described in the individual pathways. The boot camp for project management professional certification exam can be taken by anyone seeking that certification and is in the Digital Forensics Pathway. The program is available to transitioning military personnel, first responders, veterans, military spouses, underrepresented minorities, women, and government personnel. This program is offered at no cost to selected participants.

About This Pathway

This pathway is designed to allow entry level students to gain the basic knowledge to pursue forensics oriented, cyber security jobs. The introductory digital forensics course examines the fundamental data structures, software tools, and forensic analysis techniques commonly used to locate and recover trace evidence of digital crimes. The course focuses on file system forensic analysis of computer hosts. The tools of collecting, examining, and evaluating data in an effort to establish intent, culpability, motive, means, methods, and loss resulting from such crimes will be examined. Most modern IT incidents involve a security breach typically involving malware, which may be designed to allow the attacker to remotely control the compromised system, spread within the organization, steal sensitive data, or spy on the victim. The malware design and analysis course will improve your malware hunting skills by finding and examining key artifacts within the operating system. It will teach ways of investigating various properties of malware to help determine the reason for the attack. This pathway was formally known as Cyber Defense Forensics Analyst.

Eligibility

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Must be a veteran, transitioning service member, first responder, woman, military spouse, underrepresented minority, or government personnel.
• Must have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
